Dr. Fernando Jiménez Díaz

José Fernando Jiménez Díaz (Toledo, Spain) is a physician specialized in Sports and Exercise Medicine. He earned his Doctorate in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Córdoba with a dissertation focused on assessing the physiological response during simulated combat military activities.

Author of more than 100 scientific publications and articles, he has taught for over 20 years at the Faculty of Sports Sciences at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, where he led the research group “Deporsalud,” focused on sports performance and injury rehabilitation. Within this group, several research lines have been developed, particularly on the sonoelastographic examination of muscle and tendon tissues. He has also served as a guest lecturer at other institutions, including the University of Santo Tomas in Manila (Philippines) and the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico. 

An expert in the ultrasound diagnosis of musculoskeletal disorders, he has authored 13 books on the clinical and ultrasound study of musculoskeletal injuries, including Ultrasound-Guided Injections and the ECO MSK series, with recently published volumes: Hand and Wrist (Marbán, 2021), Ankle and Foot (Marbán, 2021), and Shoulder (Marbán, 2023).

Dr. Jiménez is currently the Director of the Ultrasound School of the Spanish Society of Sports Medicine and serves as President of the Spanish Society of Ultrasound (SEECO). He is also a member of the Safety Committee of the European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (EFSUMB).

Since 2013, he has served as Director of the International Chair of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound at the San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM), where he leads musculoskeletal ultrasound training courses in various countries across Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
